When Worlds Collide – where freshwater meets the ocean, an estuary is born!
The Montauk Lighthouse stands at the mouth of the Peconic Estuary: a place so magical that real estate here fetches some of the highest prices in the country. But what is an estuary? And what continuously draws people and animals to this one? Joyce Novak, Executive Director of the Peconic National Estuary Program, will dive into the unique qualities of estuaries, particularly the Peconic Estuary: a place that has maintained its title as “one of the last great places in the western hemisphere” for over 20 years.
